Microsoft's new Bing app for the iPhone and iPod touch includes voice search and geotagging features. Microsoft and Apple are rivals in the mobile operating systems space, but Microsoft has been pushing hard to raise Bing's search engine market share. ZTE, a major mobile phone OEM in China, is spreading its wings and taking on the international smartphone market, and is using Windows Mobile to do it. The company has been working with the TMN network in Portugal, where it released its Bluebelt smartphone 6 months ago, grabbing 30% of the smartphone market with its sleek and low-cost Windows Mobile smartphone. Verizon ditches Palm Pre

Verizon has decided that they will no longer support the Palm Pre, which probably means that from next year onwards, Palm will look to other providers to bring their Pre smartphone (and the Pixi, too) to other carriers. This doesn't bode too well for Verizon, since it effectively kills off any notable smartphone offering from the company, while the Pre looks for a new owner who is willing to take it under their wings and push more units to the masses.
